agchouston.org Summer 2025 Cornerstone 29 A New Era: SaberCats Stadium (2025) The year 2025 marked another exciting year for the AGC Houston BBQ Cook-Off, with the event moving to the SaberCats Stadium. This venue was much smaller than Pasadena, making the cook-off area a little tighter than we have been accustomed to, and parking for the guests was a challenge. Power and water also became a logistical challenge that we had to overcome, but we were able to find a way to provide both to the cook teams. Reflecting on the Journey Looking back on my history with the AGC Houston BBQ Cook-Off, I’m filled with pride and gratitude. From my early days volunteering at the Sam Houston Racetrack to running operations at various venues, each year has brought its own set of challenges and triumphs. The event has grown from a small gathering focused on safety to a major cook-off that celebrates the rich tradition of barbecue and the strength of our community. The success of the AGC Houston BBQ Cook-Off is a testament to the dedication and passion of everyone involved. It has been an honor to be part of this journey, and I look forward to many more years of smoky, flavorful celebrations. As we prepare for the next cook-off, I am excited to see how the event will continue to evolve and bring people together in the spirit of camaraderie, charity and delicious barbecue.
