PRESIDENTIAL PERSPECTIVE Thankful for ALOA — and You Greater Philadelphia Locksmith Associa- tion (GPLA) convention and Banquet in Philadelphia. The GPLA is the second- oldest local association in the United States, and you really missed out if you didn’t come to this internationally attend- ed event. Make plans to attend next year. As I look back, I find it interesting R — and disconcerting — how the scam- mers took away most of the car lockout business and hurt a lot of locksmiths. But as we now look at the automotive locksmiths, we’re finding a great resur- gence of high-tech business. The scam- mers have a much harder time compet- ing in this field, as the technology has far outpaced them. The truly qualified automotive locksmith technician must have a lot of computerized equipment and a great investment in special tools to be successful in this field. Training is greatly needed in this area, and we at ALOA are listening. At next year’s ALOA Convention in Rose- mount, IL, there will be many more classes for the automotive locksmith, including many with hands-on train- ecently, my wife and I attend- ed one of the year’s best events held by a local ALOA chapter: the ing. So mark you calendars now for July 16-22 for this extraordinary train- ing event and stay to see the Security Expo on July 21 and 22. At this time of year, it’s a good idea to pause and reassess your accomplish- ments and goals for 2016. What have you not yet completed, and where do you want the future to lead? There are only a few more weeks left to make sales quotas or close deals for the year. You’ve made it mostly through 2016, and now you likely have 2017 and new goals on your mind. But, more than anything, November is a time to be thankful for all that we “I’m thankful for our ALOA SPAI members and staff. Thank you for your support and all that you do.” loved ones on Thanksgiving Day to celebrate life, take some time to re- member those who have gone on to the Greatest Locksmith Shop in the sky. As for me, I’m thankful for our ALOA SPAI members and staff. Thank you for your support and all that you do. Best regards, President ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc.
