P Reno, Part I: Well Worth the Trip fantastic! I would like to thank all of the ALOA members who came and took ad- vantage of the specialized safe classes in their area. Hats off to Jim Hancock and his team of ACE instructors. Next year’s SAVTA will be back in Lexington, KY. Start making plans now, because Lexing- ton will sell out since it’s the Mecca of safe and vault manufacturers and distributors. Remember to vote this month for our S new president, and we have a couple of great guys running: Tom Foxwell, RL, CFDI, CAI, and Joe Cortie, CML, CPS, CAI. In the Southeast we have Bill Bough- man, CML, CPS, CFL, CFDI, CAI, and Jack Walder, ICML. In the Southwest we have Martin Hinshaw, RL, and Charles Eastwood, CRL. In the North Central we have John Soderland, CML, CMST, and Mike Bronzell, CRL. For associate direc- tor, there is Robin Scheirer. Go to www. aloa.org, sign into the members section and click on vote; you’ll then be taken to the online voting. And, unlike with the U.S. presidential election, you’ll only be allowed to vote once! Training Center Progress The Aaron M. Fish Security Training Cen- ter in Dallas, TX, is coming along nicely. All of the classrooms are framed out and wired for electronics, and the interior and exterior walls are sheet-rocked and insu- lated. The ductwork for the heat and A/C are being run now, and soon we can install the drop ceiling and lighting. We still have WWW.ALOA.ORG AVTA in Reno was worth the trip — what a great time was had by all. The classes this year were one more classroom for which a compan can own the naming rights. These naming rights are for the life of the school, and th sponsorship signifies to locksmiths th your company supports their education Help us Educate Consumers The Columbo video explains the Moc smiths’ scam on people locked out and d pendent on a legitimate locksmith to he them — only to get ripped off in a bait-and switch scheme to relieve them of their cash. The consumers need something to remind them that this is a serious problem, and Columbo is a well-known figure in that age group. Every little bit of information we can put out there will help. Please share this video on your social media channels. Get Ready for Reno Next up is the ALOA Convention and Security Expo in Reno this July, featur- ing three unique classes: certified fire door inspector; fire door repair; and es- timating fire doors for repair. There will be five days of management classes, so if you missed the Security Leaders Forum, you can still get the management classes while your techs attend other classes. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be half-day classes, so if you’re coming in for a long weekend, you can get quality educa- tion before the tradeshow opens on Friday and Saturday. Friday will have a four-hour life safety codes class, and Saturday will have a four-hour employee management class. Review the schedule in the accompa- nying brochure in this issue for the classes you’ve been waiting to take. “Next year’s SAVTA will be back in Lexington, KY. Start mak- ing plans now, because Lexington will sell out.” I appreciate all of the e-mails I receive with suggestions and complaints, and both are important to the continued growth of ALOA. I respond to every e-mail I receive, so please keep those e-mails coming. Stay safe and grow your company.
