PRESIDENTIAL PERSPECTIVE Time to Spring Ahead with ALOA F “Send your new hires to the ALOA Training Center to learn the basics, so they can start making you money when they come back.” ebruary was a crazy month for ALOA members. I kept getting sick because of the change in weather. Now that March is here we should start seeing the first signs of spring, and what better way to celebrate spring than to plan a trip to the SAVTA conference in Lexington, KY? This is the Mecca of safe lock manufactur- ers and distributors with one focus: safes and vaults. It’s not too early to sign up for classes and book your hotel room. In addition, we have our web design contractor designing a new platform, and I’d like to hear what ALOA members would like to see on the site. We’re putting together a wish list of ideas and want to make sure we have your ideas on it. Please email your thoughts to Mary May at [email protected], and include your contact information in case we need to clarify anything. The ALOA Training Center (ATC) will be open for our members while under construc- tion. Did you know that shop owners can contact Jim Hancock to design a fundamentals program for new hires that includes the machines in their shops? This allows ATC to be- come the trainer for your apprentices. Send your new hires to the ATC to learn the basics, so they can start making you money when they come back. I also wanted to let you know that I’m now a proud member of the Penn-Ohio Locksmiths’ Association (POLA). POLA President Dan Billheimer is aggressively recruiting new mem- bers. He encouraged me to join and I’m now helping by asking ALOA members in western Pennsylvania and Ohio to sign up. You can contact me for an application. On a final note, I’d like to remind you that all the emails I receive with suggestions and complaints are important to the continued growth of ALOA. Please know you can always reach me at [email protected]. Best regards, Tom Demont, AHC, CAI, CFDI, CFL, CMIL, CML, CPS, ARL President ALOA Security Professional Association, Inc.
