ALOA Staff Meet the ALOA Staff W hen you’re at the 60th Annual ALOA Convention & Secu- rity Expo in Orlando, be sure to say hello to your ALOA staff when you see them! Mary A. May, ALOA Executive Direc- tor, is responsible for the organization, supervision and day-to-day operation of ALOA headquarters; ensuring the legal and ethical integrity of ALOA and help- ing formulate ALOA’s mission, goals, ob- jectives and related policies; promoting the growth and development of ALOA, its constituent bodies and its members; and, in conjunction with the president, serv- ing as a spokesperson for ALOA. Mary has worked in association management for more than 30 years. ALOA’s Membership Services Depart- ment responds to inquiries, processes ap- plications, handles member grievances, conducts dues invoicing, issues member cards and certificates, updates the data- base, provides benefit program support and handles membership promotions. Kevin Wesley, our member manager, has been with ALOA 14 years. Maria Martinez, our membership assistant, works with Kevin on membership-related duties. Judy Risinger, in addition to being the receptionist, works closely with membership departments and other departments as needed. ALOA’s Convention Department co- ordinates all aspects of the ALOA and SAFETECH conventions, booth sales, sponsorships and board meetings, in- cluding location and vendor contracts, travel arrangements, and exhibitor and attendee general information. Our con- vention team includes Kathryn Beard, our convention/meetings manager who joined ALOA in 2015, and Courtney Smith, our meetings assistant who joined us this year. ALOA’s Education and Certification Department is responsible for all aspects of the PRP and STPRP programs, includ- ing grading and scheduling. They also develop and review ACE curriculum, provide registration for various courses, maintain records, produce handouts, de- velop new programs and organize edu- cational materials. Jim Hancock, CML, CMST, has been the education manager since 2011 and has more than 45 years in the industry. The assistant education manager is Grey Woodyear, CPL, CPS, the education/certification coordinator is Jessica Brown. Carlos Blanco is the mail- room coordinator, taking care of shipping and receiving and working closely with the education department. ALOA’s Finance Department handles all accounting functions of ALOA and SAVTA, including the application of dues and other payments, general ledger and financial state- ment preparation, human resource manage- ment including payroll, cash management and insurance for the association. Kathy Romo, comptroller, has worked at ALOA since 1996. ALOA’s Legislative Department monitors, analyzes and reports on state and federal legislation and regu- lations affecting the industry. It man- ages and coordinates ALOA’s legislative affairs, and provides grassroots sup- port for state and federal government relations activities for ALOA. Barry Roberts and Associates, which has of- fices in Washington, D.C., and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, is responsible for legislation matters.
